Hello. How can we help you?
How to install and activate a floating license server
Learn installing a soft network license on a Server station and Client workstations.
Floating licensing also known as concurrent licensing allows many Users accessing a shared limited number of accesses. All Users may have Software installed on their station but only a limited number of them can run TYPE EDIT concurrently. Floating licensing requires a server to handle the soft license. We recommend Windows Server 2022 or 2025.

Installation required on the Server station
- Install the Sentinel HASP Run-time Environment
- Open the http://localhost:1947/ URL from a web browser.
- Take record note of the Server host name or IP, because it will be eventually used later on the client stations to recognize the Server License.

Validation on the Client workstation
- Install the last TYPE EDIT/LASER TYPE version . ( TYPE EDIT Download page )
- Open the http://localhost:1947/ URL in a web browser. This will launch the “Sentinel Admin Control Center” (SACC).
- In the SACC, select “Configuration” from the left-side menu. This will open the “Configuration” page.
- On the “Access to Remote License Managers” tab select the “Allow Access to Remote Licenses” check box. This will make the settings available for remote configuration. Next, add the “Host name machine” or the server “IP address” that hosts the Sentinel License Manager, in the “Remote License Search Parameters” box.

- Click the “Submit” button to apply the changes.
